Purpleheart(Peltogyne paniculata)Central America
The growth range of the species is reported to include the tropical regions of Central America and tropical South America from Mexico to Southern Brazil. They are reported to be most common in the Amazon basin, and are also found in Colombia, Guyana, Surinam, and Venezuela. Purpleheart refers to timber from approximately 20 species and is often referred to as Violetwood, Amaranth, Sakavalli, Pau Roxom, Nazareno, Armante, Tananeo, Saka, Coracy, Pauferro, Koroboreli and Morado. This exotic and imported hardwood has a straight grain with a moderately coarse texture. Deep purple in color, which changes to a rich brown as the wood matures.
