Tulipwood(Dalbergia variabilis)South America
The growth range of the species is reported to be native to tropical South America, especially northeastern Brazil, where it flourishes near Bahia and Pernambuco. Tulipwood is a member of the rosewood family and is also referred to as Brazilian Tulipwood, Pau Rosa, Bios de Rose, Pinkwood, Pau de Fuso, Jacaranda Rosa. Throughout the world there are hundreds of different species of Rosewoods. This exotic and imported hardwood is a classic high-quality wood, very dense with a lovely figure with irregular streaks of yellow, rose and red or violet on a cream to straw colored background. The colorful member of the Dalbergia (rosewood) genus might be considered best in show as a pedigree wood. Brazilian tulipwood has a long history as a cabinet wood.
